Funnel Web Bite Sparks WARNING For Local Residents

A new warning about the dangers of poisonous creatures around the Monaro
has been issued following a recent incident where a Bombala resident was bitten by a
funnel web spider.

New South Wales ambulance is now asking people to be mindful that the
warmer temperatures has coincided with increased potential for bites
from both snakes and spiders as they leave hibernation in search of food.

What to do if a funnel web bites you:

Call 000
Ring the NSW Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26
Apply bandage and keep firm pressure over bite
Keep affected area as still as possible to prevent venom spreading
Loosen clothing, remove rings and tight jewellery
