There is a total fire ban in force across the region today with a warning of extremely warm temperatures for this time of year and
strong winds.
It's expected to reach 27 degrees in the Monaro with low humidity and winds could get up to as high as 110 kilometers per hour with a cool change not expected until later tonight.
The rural fire service is now mobilising its resources throughout the state for the potentially catastrophic conditions and Fred Nicholls from the Monaro team says all permits are cancelled
and people need to be extremely careful.
